Zimmerman WWTF Upgrade & Expansion
Nero completed a facility plan along with an antidegradation
alternatives analysis and an environmental assessment worksheet
for the Zimmerman WWTF Upgrade & Expansion project. The existing
treatment facility had approached the flow capacity that would
typically initiate planning for the future. The facility plan
included a plant-wide condition assessment of the existing equipment,
an evaluation of treatment process alternatives, cost estimates
for feasible alternatives, estimated operation and maintenance costs
for feasible alternatives, and the selection of the recommended
alternative for the upgrade and expansion.
The planning process conducted by the City and Nero identified a shorter-term need for additional solids handling capacity. The project team decided to move the project into two phases, with the first phase addressing the solids handling process and capacity.
